Best times to start a swimming course in 2027
January: a clean start
Starting in the first weeks of January gives a course about a month of steady lessons before Chinese New Year (6–8 February). That early momentum makes the CNY break much easier to absorb.
Late March: after the first holiday cluster
Hari Raya Puasa (10 Mar), the March school holidays and Good Friday (26 Mar) all fall within about two weeks. A course starting in the week of 29 March runs through April with no public holidays at all – April 2027 is one of the quietest months on the calendar.
June school holidays: intensive courses
Four weeks off school makes June the best window for a short, intensive children's course – for example, several lessons a week to build water confidence or work towards a SwimSafer course stage.
After National Day: the second half of the year
From mid-August, the only public holiday before Christmas is Deepavali (28 October), so a course starting after 9 August has a long, mostly uninterrupted run.
Plan for the busy weeks
May is the most interrupted month, with Labour Day (1 May), Hari Raya Haji (17 May) and Vesak Day (20 May). If your course runs through May, agree in advance how missed lessons will be handled – replaced, credited or rescheduled.
